Our newest column explores fan culture and events. In this edition, we look at all the fan happenings in March.
View from the Riot is our new, monthly column where we cover all the major events for Real Salt Lake, Utah Royals, and Real Monarchs supporters. As the season progresses, we’ll highlight watch parties, fan events, tifo painting and other prep for match day support, and soccer fan culture here in Utah.
March 2nd - 15th Annual Section 26 Homebrew tailgate
23+ beers and ciders will compete for top honor. Guest judges from the team will be around. $5 for the commemorative glass, Must have ID to get wristbands. 21+. 9am-11am
March 9th - Rocky Mountain Cup against Colorado
RMC trophy will be in the 90th lot. Come take your pictures with it. Laugh at how bad the C.Rapids are and retell your favorite RMC story.
March 12th - Royals tifo painting
Painting a tifo for Royals home opener. No experience or skills needed! Come hang out with fellow Royals fans and help create a piece of history for our beloved Royals! 4-7pm at the RSL grounds crew building (map below):
March 16th - Royals home opener
Come out and support the Royals. Tailgate in the 90th, opens 3 hours before kickoff. Come start new traditions and build the fandom of the Royals!
March 22nd - Royals home game
March 23rd - RSL v Van away watch party
Join us at Calle and Beer Bar for watch parties! Beer Bar 21+ tons of great beers and drinks, plus great food. Calle is all ages. Open futsal court, snacks and pizza along non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase.
March 30th - RSL home

With two home openers, including the history remaking of the Utah Royals first home game and a Rocky Mountain Cup game, March storms in strong! Now is the time to come to an event and check out the supporters groups and find like minded fans who share a passion for Real and the Royals! All events are open to the public and we encourage everyone to come check them out!
General season long info for both teams:
- tailgate lots open 3 hrs before kick.
- March to the match starts 1 hour before kickoff
- Lots remain open overnight, so please leave your car if you drink!
- Wave flags and or scarfs for extra time both at half and full time! Let’s give our players some extra energy to finish strong!
Zac Barnes is a longtime RSL supporter, having been an active part of RSL, Royals, and Monarchs supporters groups over the years. In 2022 he joined RSL staff to become to the Supporter Liaison, where focuses on bridging the gap between supporters and the club to help build the soccer supporter culture in Utah.
