The Athletic's Tom Bogert has reported that Real Salt Lake are finalizing a deal to bring Colombian forward Cristian "Chicho" Arango to the team.
The move would be for a club record fee, though the exact amount has not yet been disclosed. LAFC, who sold Arango to Liga MX team C.F. Pachuca in the winter, will receive a percentage of the sale. Arango has reportedly agreed to the deal and should travel to the US soon. He could be available as early as July 7th, once the MLS summer transfer window opens.
Arango is expected to be a designated for Real Salt Lake. The team have had issues scoring goals, particularly from center forwards, and Arango could have an instant impact. During his time with LAFC, he led the team in goal scoring in 2021 and 2022. LAFC won both the Supporters Shield and MLS Cup in 2022.
