RSL announces draft pick Emeka Eneli signs with first team

Eneli, 24, signs after preseason with RSL and Real Monarchs.

Real Salt Lake announced the signing of Emeka Eneli, making the Cornell graduate the third first-round draft pick to sign for the club in 2023.

Eneli, 24, is listed as a defender and midfielder. He's been training with Real Monarchs following the end of Real Salt Lake's preseason, rendering this one a little bit of a surprise.

During his collegiate career, Eneli was listed as a forward. He scored seven goals and made seven assists during the 2021 season, then four and seven, respectively, during the 2022 season.

Eneli is the third first-round draft pick to sign for the club in 2023, having been preceded by Ilijah Paul and Bertin Jacquesson.
