Jefferson Savarino called up by Venezuela for qualifiers

Savarino isn’t anticipated to miss RSL minutes for the international absence.

One of the true standouts for Real Salt Lake after he joined on loan in May, Jefferson Savarino has been given a real plaudit by the Venezuelan national team.

Savarino has been called in for their World Cup Qualification campaign. Venezuela faces Colombia on Aug. 31 and Argentina on Sept. 5. As a result, he shouldn’t miss a match for RSL, with the team on break for the FIFA window following their match against Colorado Rapids on Saturday.

Savarino, 20, has yet to play in a competitive match for Venezuela, although he was called in for an international friendly against the United States, playing 18 minutes.

The rise of Savarino seems to be continuing at a scorching pace, which perhaps shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone paying attention to his play for RSL. In his short time at the club, he’s already scored four goals and nabbed three assists.
