RSL won’t be represented in the MLS All-Star Game

The final MLS All-Star Game roster is out. It’s good there are no RSL players involved.

For the first time since 2008, no Real Salt Lake player has been selected for the MLS All-Star Game.

That’s good for us.

I know, I know — the representation is nice and probably important in soem ways. And we’ve had a player involved every year since 2009, with Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando being near-constants.

But right now, can we really afford to let loose a few players for a meaningless game against an opponent that likely stole Real Salt Lake’s historic name? I think not.

The MLS All-Star Game takes place on Aug. 2 in Chicago against Real Madrid.
