“Tonight was an embarrassment. Everyone on the field should be embarrassed ... I don’t care how hot it is.”
That’s Tony Beltran after tonight’s 5-1 loss to Houston Dynamo in an on-air interview with Brian Dunseth and David James.
It’s impossible to disagree with Beltran here, whose anger after the match was palpable.
Beltran continued:
We need to really look at the film tonight, because … all over the board, it’s not good enough. ... This was an opportunity for a six-point game. The Western Conference is good, and if we’re not careful, we’ll be left behind.
RSL’s 5-1 loss was perhaps their worst of the season, with the closest almost certainly having been a 4-0 loss against New England.
If you’re looking for intrigue in this, look no further than Beltran talking about not caring how hot it was on the field — that feels like a pointed criticism.
