Real Salt Lake is one of four clubs that will be participating in a preseason tournament in Portland, Ore., at Providence Park, joining the Timbers, Vancouver Whitecaps, and MLS newcomers Minnesota United FC, according to a Minnesota press release.
Each team will play each of the others over the course of a week, with matches on Thursday, Feb. 9; Sunday, Feb. 12; and Wednesday, Feb. 15.
This is the sixth iteration of the tournament, but it is RSL’s first involvement. While it’s unlikely that sparks will fly between Portland and RSL, that Feb. 9 match could be a fun one — and perhaps the first real look at a changed squad.
As of now, Real Salt Lake is not participating in the 2017 Desert Diamond Cup, but they are slated to participate in the 2017 Desert Friendlies hosted by the club.

Sunday, Feb. 12

- Real Salt Lake vs. Minnesota United FC – 5 p.m.
- Portland Timbers vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC – 7:30 p.m.
