Real Salt Lake makes playoffs, will face LA Galaxy on Wednesday

Real Salt Lake will return to the MLS playoffs after missing out in 2015.

Real Salt Lake’s going to the playoffs, by hook or by crook.

Despite losing to Seattle Sounders, RSL’s entrance was sealed by — of all teams — Portland Timbers losing quite heavily on the road to Vancouver Whitecaps.

RSL holds the sixth seed seed heading into the playoffs, and they’ll face LA Galaxy in the play-in round. It's something that echoes 2014 a bit, which certainly can't play well into RSL fans’ mentality, which is already at a low point.

RSL coach Jeff Cassar certainly went for a home match to kick off playoffs, but three susbtitutions to restore RSL’s front line to include Yura Movsisyan, Javier Morales, and Burrito Martinez was hardly enough for that.

Results around the league:

Vancouver - Portland: Whitecaps downed Portland 4-1, leading 4-0 after the first half

Sporting KC - San Jose: A late second goal from KC sealed a win for our rivals
