Dates, times released for 2015 MLS Re-Entry Draft, other key offseason moments

Matt Montgomery

Wondering what's in store this offseason? MLS released their offseason schedule, and it's pretty much the same as you'd expect.

But don't let that get you down — there are times and dates and everything you need to stay up-to-date.

Dec. 7: MLS will release a list of players eligible for free agency and for the re-entry draft.

Dec. 8: A list of players eligible for the waiver draft will be released. Eligible players are not free agents or eligible for the re-entry draft. Additionally, free agents may engage in negotiations with MLS clubs.

Dec. 9, 4:30 p.m. Eastern: The waiver draft takes place. If a player is out of contract and selected, the selecting team must issue a "genuine offer" to the selected player. If they are not out of contract, they will be added to the selecting team's roster.

Dec. 10, 5 p.m. Eastern: Clubs may no longer sign, trade re-entry draft eligible players (in preparation for stage one of draft)

Dec. 11, 3 p.m. Eastern: Re-Entry Draft, Stage One. Players selected during this stage would have to be at their contract option price or a CBA-enforced salary increase. Players may also choose not to participate in this or the next stage.

Dec. 16, 11 a.m. Eastern: Clubs may no longer sign, trade re-entry draft eligible players (in preparation for stage two of draft)

Dec. 17, 3 p.m. Eastern: Re-Entry Draft, Stage Two. Players selected in stage one are ineligible in this stage, obviously. Contracts can also be re-negotiated.
